Our provider administrative policies contain information regarding claims submission, reimbursement, and other information in order to achieve an efficient relationship with our providers. These policies are not an authorization or explanation of benefits. Blue Cross of Idaho retains the right to add to, delete from and otherwise modify this policy in accordance with our provider contracts.

Blue Cross of Idaho works diligently on behalf of our members to develop contracting relationships with Idaho dental providers and Blue Cross Blue Shield dental affiliates (national Dental Grid).



Dental GRID

Blue Cross of Idaho has joined with other Blue Cross Blue Shield plans nationwide to develop the national Dental GRID, one of the country's leading national dental networks. The national Dental GRID is a network of contracting Blue Cross Blue Shield dental providers. By combining the dental provider networks from multiple Blue Plans across the country, members receive broader access to participating dentists, while still receiving the same great service they've come to expect from Blue Cross of Idaho. The national Dental GRID connects Blue Cross Blue Shield dental networks from participating Plans throughout the country so members can receive in-network benefits nationwide.

More patients will likely turn to your dental office for their dental care, because you will be "in-network" for patients who live in Idaho but are members of Blue Cross and Blue Shield groups based in other states. It will not change your reimbursement levels or participating provider agreements in any way. We will continue to reimburse you based on your current participating provider agreement. The Dental GRID networks are defined as follows:

  • GRID -   Contracting with Blue Cross of Idaho as a PPO provider.
  • GRID+ - Contracting with Blue Cross of Idaho as a Traditional provider.

To verify participation, please call Customer Service at 866-482-2250 or 208-286-3656.

Send claims to the address on the back of the member's ID card. The member's Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield plan is responsible for paying claims.

The GRID and GRID+ program will be effective for dates of service January 1, 2012, and forward.

The national Dental GRID provides you with access to local members of Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans that are based in other states. Nothing about your participating provider agreement or reimbursement with our plan changes, and your participation relationship remains the same with us. This simply increases your potential patient base.
